Tilt & turn windows near you

Tilt and turn windows open inwards in two ways: tilted at the top for secure ventilation, or turned fully like a door for cleaning and escape. They suit flats, high-rise homes, modern builds and any room where outward-opening windows are impractical or cleaning from outside is difficult.

FAQs

Tilt & turn windows: your questions

Do tilt and turn windows get in the way when open?

When turned fully open, the sash swings into the room, so you need space clear of furniture and blinds. Most of the time people use the tilt position, which only angles the top inwards slightly. We look at room layout and blind choices at survey so the window works comfortably day to day.

Are tilt and turn windows secure?

Yes. They usually have locking points around the whole sash, and the tilt position allows ventilation without leaving an opening large enough to climb through. Because the hinges are on the inside, they cannot be tampered with from outside when the window is closed.

Can tilt and turn windows be used as fire escape windows?

Because the sash turns fully inward, tilt and turn windows can give a large clear opening suitable for emergency escape from upper-floor rooms. We check which rooms in your London property need an escape window and size the window accordingly when we survey.
