Tilt & turn windows in Chigwell

Around Chigwell you will mostly find large detached houses, executive homes and 1930s semis. Allow for the inward swing when planning rooms in a detached home, keeping furniture, blinds and deep window sills clear of the sash's opening arc.

In 1930s loft conversions and rear bedrooms, a tilt and turn window can provide a generous escape opening while still allowing secure night-time ventilation. Tilt and turn styles rarely suit front elevations in conservation areas, so check with the council and consider them for hidden rear or side elevations instead.

Big glass panels are heavy, and long drives or side access can be awkward, so delivery and lifting are planned properly at the survey rather than on the day. Many owners also prefer one company for windows, doors and the roof together, which is how we work: the same team surveys, makes and fits. Chigwell is about 5 miles from Edmonton.

Tilt and turn windows open inwards in two ways: tilted at the top for secure ventilation, or turned fully like a door for cleaning and escape. They suit flats, high-rise homes, modern builds and any room where outward-opening windows are impractical or cleaning from outside is difficult.

• Tilt position for secure ventilation
• Turns fully inward for safe cleaning
• Locking points all around the sash
