Tilt & turn windows in Leytonstone

Around Leytonstone you will mostly find Victorian and Edwardian terraces, many converted to flats. On Victorian terraces, tilt and turn windows are best kept to rear extensions or loft rooms, where their modern look matters less and inward opening helps cleaning.

Tilt and turn windows are ideal for upper-floor flats because both sides of the glass can be cleaned from inside, avoiding the need for external access. In 1930s loft conversions and rear bedrooms, a tilt and turn window can provide a generous escape opening while still allowing secure night-time ventilation.

The A12 cuts through the area in a deep cutting, and homes nearby, as well as those on the High Road, pick up traffic noise day and night. We recommend acoustic glazing for these. Some streets are in conservation areas, so we check with Waltham Forest Council first. Leytonstone is about 3.5 miles from our workshop.

Tilt and turn windows open inwards in two ways: tilted at the top for secure ventilation, or turned fully like a door for cleaning and escape. They suit flats, high-rise homes, modern builds and any room where outward-opening windows are impractical or cleaning from outside is difficult.

• Tilt position for secure ventilation
• Turns fully inward for safe cleaning
• Locking points all around the sash
