Aluminium sliding doors in Woodford

The housing in Woodford is largely Victorian and Edwardian villas, roomy 1930s semis and some mansion flats. In Victorian side-return extensions, a two or three-panel sliding door gives wide views while staying practical in narrow gardens where swinging doors would get in the way.

Sliding doors suit flats opening onto balconies or terraces because they do not swing, but check freeholder consent and drainage at the threshold first. For 1930s semis with rear extensions, sliding doors keep sightlines clean across the garden and avoid bifold panel stacks taking up patio space.

For the older villas we can make sash windows or flush casements with period-style bars, and composite doors with decorative glass. Parts of Woodford are covered by conservation area controls, so we talk to Redbridge Council before quoting where needed. Our factory is about 3 miles away, which makes it easy to bring samples to your home.

Sliding patio doors use large glass panels that glide along a track, opening up a rear wall without taking any space inside or out. Made with slim aluminium frames, they suit kitchen extensions, living rooms and modern homes where owners want maximum glass, views and daylight.

• Large panes with slim aluminium frames
