Double glazing in South Woodford

The housing in South Woodford is largely Edwardian terraces, 1930s semis, detached homes and newer flats. Many Victorian terraces still have single-glazed sashes, and moving to double glazing is often the biggest single comfort upgrade, whether through new windows or secondary glazing.

Original 1930s leaded lights can be replicated within double glazed units, so you keep the decorative pattern while gaining modern insulation and quieter rooms. Detached homes have more external walls and windows losing heat, so upgrading every window to modern double glazing at once gives consistent comfort throughout.

Noise is the thing most people mention: the North Circular, Charlie Brown's Roundabout and the start of the M11 are all close. Thicker laminated acoustic units cut that hum noticeably. At roughly 3.1 miles, a quick run along the A406 from our factory, we are easy to reach for aftercare.

Double glazing uses two panes of glass with a sealed, insulating gap between them, cutting heat loss, draughts and condensation compared with single glazing. We fit it in new windows and doors or as replacement sealed units, suiting almost every home, from older properties still single glazed to houses with failed units.

• Warmer rooms and lower heat loss
• Quieter rooms than single glazing
• Toughened and laminated safety glass options
