Acoustic glazing in South Woodford

The housing in South Woodford is largely Edwardian terraces, 1930s semis, detached homes and newer flats. Victorian terraces often sit close to the pavement, so fitting acoustic glazing to front bedrooms first usually gives the most noticeable reduction in street noise.

1930s homes on main arterial roads benefit most from acoustic units in the front bays, along with good seals, because gaps let sound in as easily as thin glass. On detached homes, target the elevations facing the noise source, such as a road or railway, rather than paying for acoustic glass in every window.

Noise is the thing most people mention: the North Circular, Charlie Brown's Roundabout and the start of the M11 are all close. Thicker laminated acoustic units cut that hum noticeably. At roughly 3.1 miles, a quick run along the A406 from our factory, we are easy to reach for aftercare.

Acoustic glazing uses laminated glass with a sound-damping interlayer, often combined with panes of different thicknesses, to reduce noise coming through your windows. It suits homes and businesses near busy roads, railways, flight paths, schools and nightlife, where outside noise affects sleep, work or everyday comfort.

• Noticeably quieter rooms near busy roads
