Secondary glazing in Leytonstone

Homes in Leytonstone are mostly Victorian and Edwardian terraces, many converted to flats. Behind Victorian sash windows, vertical sliding secondary glazing aligned with the meeting rail keeps the view uninterrupted and lets both windows open for ventilation.

For flats where the lease or freeholder prevents changing external windows, secondary glazing fitted inside is usually the simplest way to reduce traffic noise and heat loss. In 1930s bays, secondary glazing can follow each facet of the bay or span across it, so we measure carefully around radiators, sills and curtain tracks.

The A12 cuts through the area in a deep cutting, and homes nearby, as well as those on the High Road, pick up traffic noise day and night. We recommend acoustic glazing for these. Some streets are in conservation areas, so we check with Waltham Forest Council first. Leytonstone is about 3.5 miles from our workshop.

Secondary glazing is a discreet second window fitted on the inside of your existing windows, leaving the originals untouched. It suits listed buildings, conservation areas, flats where external windows cannot be changed, and anyone wanting to cut noise and draughts without replacing period windows.

• Keeps original windows in place
• Reduces draughts and outside noise
• Panels open or lift out for cleaning
