Double glazing in Chigwell

Homes in Chigwell are mostly large detached houses, executive homes and 1930s semis. Detached homes have more external walls and windows losing heat, so upgrading every window to modern double glazing at once gives consistent comfort throughout.

Original 1930s leaded lights can be replicated within double glazed units, so you keep the decorative pattern while gaining modern insulation and quieter rooms. In conservation areas, slim double glazed units can sometimes be fitted into traditional-style frames, but check with the council first, as listed buildings usually need consent.

Big glass panels are heavy, and long drives or side access can be awkward, so delivery and lifting are planned properly at the survey rather than on the day. Many owners also prefer one company for windows, doors and the roof together, which is how we work: the same team surveys, makes and fits. Chigwell is about 5 miles from Edmonton.

Double glazing uses two panes of glass with a sealed, insulating gap between them, cutting heat loss, draughts and condensation compared with single glazing. We fit it in new windows and doors or as replacement sealed units, suiting almost every home, from older properties still single glazed to houses with failed units.

• Warmer rooms and lower heat loss
• Less condensation on the glass
• Toughened and laminated safety glass options
