Aluminium windows in Walthamstow Village

Around Walthamstow Village you will mostly find Victorian terraces with sash windows and a few much older buildings. On Victorian and Edwardian homes, aluminium windows work well in rear extensions, where slim frames tie in neatly with matching aluminium sliding or bifold doors.

Larger detached homes can use aluminium for big feature windows and gable glazing, where the frame's strength supports wide panes without bulky mullions. Where original steel windows survive in a conservation area, discuss slim aluminium replacements with the council early, as matching sightlines strongly affects whether they are acceptable.

The Village is a conservation area, so Waltham Forest Council expects changes to front windows and doors to suit the historic style. We check the guidance and, where needed, help with the planning side before work begins. The streets are narrow and parking is tight, so we plan fitting days carefully.

Aluminium windows use strong, slim frames that let more glass and daylight into a room, with powder-coated finishes in a wide range of colours. They suit modern homes, extensions and renovations, and owners of older properties wanting slim sightlines that echo original steel windows.

• Slim frames for more glass and daylight
• Durable powder-coated colour finishes
• Thermally broken frames for better insulation
