Double glazing in Upper Clapton

Homes in Upper Clapton are mostly Victorian terraces, larger villas, mansion blocks and post-war estates. Many Victorian terraces still have single-glazed sashes, and moving to double glazing is often the biggest single comfort upgrade, whether through new windows or secondary glazing.

In homes built from the 1980s onwards, misted or blown double glazed units are common, and replacing just the glass often restores performance without new frames. In conservation areas, slim double glazed units can sometimes be fitted into traditional-style frames, but check with the council first, as listed buildings usually need consent.

Mansion-block and converted flats usually need the freeholder's agreement first, and we can help you prepare what they ask for. Facing Upper Clapton Road? Its buses run late, and acoustic laminated glass takes the edge off. The journey from our workshop is around 3 miles.

Double glazing uses two panes of glass with a sealed, insulating gap between them, cutting heat loss, draughts and condensation compared with single glazing. We fit it in new windows and doors or as replacement sealed units, suiting almost every home, from older properties still single glazed to houses with failed units.

• Less condensation on the glass
• Quieter rooms than single glazing
• Toughened and laminated safety glass options
