Aluminium bifold doors for Theydon Bois homes
Homes in Theydon Bois are mostly Victorian cottages, interwar detached houses and post-war homes. On Victorian side-return extensions, a three-panel bifold with a traffic door works well, giving everyday access without folding back the whole set.
1930s semis with full-width rear extensions suit four or five-panel bifolds, but allow enough patio space for where the panels stack when fully open. Larger detached homes can use corner bifolds or several sets across a rear elevation, but supporting steelwork must be designed to limit deflection over wide spans.
Planning rules near the green and forest can be stricter than in suburban streets, so we check before quoting. We are about 7.5 miles from our Edmonton factory and handle surveys, manufacturing and fitting ourselves.
Bifold doors are made of several panels that fold and stack neatly to one side, opening almost the full width of a wall to the garden. With slim aluminium frames, they suit kitchen extensions, garden rooms and homes where owners want a seamless link between indoor and outdoor living.
- Opens almost the full width
- Traffic door for everyday access
- Wide choice of powder-coated colours

Questions from Theydon Bois
Do I need planning permission for aluminium bifold doors in Theydon Bois?
Some parts of Theydon Bois fall within conservation areas and the Green Belt, so we check with Epping Forest District Council before quoting. Replacing existing doors with bifolds on a house is usually permitted development and covered by FENSA, but new or widened openings need Building Regulations approval, and flats, listed buildings and conservation areas may need planning consent.
How soon can you fit aluminium bifold doors in Theydon Bois?
Lead times vary by product and workload — confirmed with your quote. Being about 7.5 miles from our factory makes surveys, fitting days and aftercare visits easy to arrange.
Do bifold doors need a steel beam above?
Wide bifold openings often need a steel beam or lintel to carry the wall above, especially when you are creating or widening an opening. This needs Building Regulations approval and should be designed to limit deflection so the doors run smoothly. We'll discuss this when surveying your Theydon Bois home.
Can I see samples before I decide?
Yes. Our showroom is at Unit G, 1 Anthony Way, London N18 3QT (Mon–Fri 8am–5pm), about 7.5 miles from Theydon Bois. We can also bring samples to your home in Theydon Bois at the free survey.
