Double glazing in East Barnet

The housing in East Barnet is largely 1930s semis with bay windows, Victorian cottages and low-rise flats. Many Victorian terraces still have single-glazed sashes, and moving to double glazing is often the biggest single comfort upgrade, whether through new windows or secondary glazing.

Detached homes have more external walls and windows losing heat, so upgrading every window to modern double glazing at once gives consistent comfort throughout. If your flat's frames are in good order, replacing only failed or misted double glazed units may avoid the need for freeholder approval for new windows.

Driveways are common on the semis, which makes access easy on fitting day. At around 5.7 miles from our Edmonton workshop, we can survey, make and install with one team and come back quickly if anything needs adjusting.

Double glazing uses two panes of glass with a sealed, insulating gap between them, cutting heat loss, draughts and condensation compared with single glazing. We fit it in new windows and doors or as replacement sealed units, suiting almost every home, from older properties still single glazed to houses with failed units.

• Warmer rooms and lower heat loss
• Quieter rooms than single glazing
• Toughened and laminated safety glass options
