Casement windows near you

Casement windows are hinged at the side or top and open outwards, making them the most common window style in British homes. We make them to measure in uPVC and aluminium, and they suit almost any property, from terraces and semis to flats and modern houses.

FAQs

Casement windows: your questions

What is the difference between storm and flush casements?

On a storm casement, the opening sash sits proud of the frame, which is the common modern style. On a flush casement, the sash closes level with the frame, giving a cleaner look closer to traditional timber windows. Both open the same way; the choice is mainly about appearance.

Can casement windows act as fire escape windows?

Yes. Fitted with egress hinges, a casement can open wide enough to provide an emergency escape route from an upper-floor habitable room, which Building Regulations require in some situations. We check which rooms in your London home need escape windows during the survey.

Are outward-opening casements secure?

Modern casements use multi-point locking, internally beaded glazing and secure hinges, so they are far harder to force than older windows. Lockable handles add another layer of security, and restrictors let you leave windows slightly open for ventilation while limiting how far they open.
