Casement windows in Brookmans Park

Around Brookmans Park you will mostly find 1930s detached and semi-detached houses on large plots. On larger houses, mixing side-hung and top-hung casements helps balance ventilation and views, and matching sightlines across fixed and opening panes keeps elevations tidy.

Where a conservation area expects slim traditional joinery, a flush casement with putty-style beads looks closer to the original than a standard storm casement. Many 1930s semis originally had leaded or stained-glass top lights, and we can incorporate decorative glass or Georgian bars into casements to keep that look.

Larger houses and gardens suit bifold and sliding doors, and conservatory roof replacements are a common request. The village is surrounded by green belt, which matters for bigger extensions though not for like-for-like windows. We are about 10.5 miles from our Edmonton factory, a short drive up the A10 and M25 or through Potters Bar.

Casement windows are hinged at the side or top and open outwards, making them the most common window style in British homes. We make them to measure in uPVC and aluminium, and they suit almost any property, from terraces and semis to flats and modern houses.

• Side or top hung to suit each opening
• Opens wide for ventilation and cleaning
• Escape hinges available for upper floors
