Aluminium sliding doors in NW6

In Victorian side-return extensions, a two or three-panel sliding door gives wide views while staying practical in narrow gardens where swinging doors would get in the way.

Sliding doors suit flats opening onto balconies or terraces because they do not swing, but check freeholder consent and drainage at the threshold first. On period homes in conservation areas, rear sliding doors are often acceptable where hidden from the street, but confirm with the council before ordering.

Few London districts have so many railway lines: the Jubilee, Metropolitan, Overground and Thameslink all cross the area. Acoustic glazing is often needed. Many homes are flats, so we coordinate with freeholders when required. We are about 7.7 miles from NW6.

Sliding patio doors use large glass panels that glide along a track, opening up a rear wall without taking any space inside or out. Made with slim aluminium frames, they suit kitchen extensions, living rooms and modern homes where owners want maximum glass, views and daylight.

• Large panes with slim aluminium frames
