French doors for Woodford Green homes
The housing in Woodford Green is largely Victorian and Edwardian villas, 1930s detached houses and mansion-style flats. French doors suit Victorian back rooms and kitchen extensions where the opening is too narrow for bifolds, giving a full-width opening from two hinged leaves.
On 1930s semis, replacing a rear window and the wall below with French doors needs a properly sized lintel, so the structural work must be planned and approved. In larger homes, French doors work well from dining rooms and studies onto terraces, and matching them to existing window styles keeps the house looking coherent.
Woodford Green has a conservation area around the green, managed by Redbridge Council, and we check what applies before quoting. Homes near the A104 or the A406 benefit from acoustic glazing. We travel about 2.7 miles from our Edmonton factory.
French doors are a pair of hinged doors that open together to connect a room with the garden, patio or balcony. Available in uPVC and aluminium, they suit homeowners wanting a wide, classic opening without the space needed by bifold or large sliding door systems.

Questions from Woodford Green
Do I need planning permission for french doors in Woodford Green?
The area around the green is a conservation area, so Redbridge Council may expect window and door styles to suit the original houses; we check before quoting. Replacing existing French doors or a back door on a house is usually permitted development and covered by FENSA, but forming a new or wider opening needs Building Regulations approval, and flats or listed buildings may need consent.
How soon can you fit french doors in Woodford Green?
Lead times vary by product and workload — confirmed with your quote. Being about 2.7 miles from our factory makes surveys, fitting days and aftercare visits easy to arrange.
Can I replace a window with French doors?
Often, yes, but it means removing the wall below the window and possibly widening the opening, which needs a suitable lintel and Building Regulations approval. In flats, listed buildings and some conservation areas in Woodford Green, planning permission may also be needed. We'll explain the process during the survey.
Can I see samples before I decide?
Yes. Our showroom is at Unit G, 1 Anthony Way, London N18 3QT (Mon–Fri 8am–5pm), about 2.7 miles from Woodford Green. We can also bring samples to your home in Woodford Green at the free survey.
