Flush windows in Stoke Newington

Around Stoke Newington you will mostly find Georgian terraces, large Victorian houses, mansion blocks and converted flats. In conservation areas, a flush window in a woodgrain finish can come closer to original joinery than standard uPVC, although council approval may still be needed.

Flush windows suit Victorian rear elevations and back additions, giving a cleaner joinery look than storm casements while sash windows stay on the front. Before choosing flush windows in a flat, confirm the freeholder accepts the colour and profile, since mixed styles across a block can breach lease terms.

Hackney Council has several conservation areas here, including around Stoke Newington Church Street, and planning officers pay close attention to front elevations. We check the rules before quoting, and suggest secondary glazing for listed homes. The A10 high street is noisy too, so acoustic glass is worth adding. We are about 3.5 miles away.

Flush windows have opening sashes that sit level with the outer frame, recreating the look of traditional timber casements. Made in our own factory, they suit homeowners who want a heritage or contemporary appearance with the low maintenance of a modern frame, especially on period homes and stylish renovations.

• Available in woodgrain and colour finishes
