Double glazing in Islington

Around Islington you will mostly find Georgian terraces, Victorian houses, mansion blocks and council estates. In conservation areas, slim double glazed units can sometimes be fitted into traditional-style frames, but check with the council first, as listed buildings usually need consent.

Many Victorian terraces still have single-glazed sashes, and moving to double glazing is often the biggest single comfort upgrade, whether through new windows or secondary glazing. If your flat's frames are in good order, replacing only failed or misted double glazed units may avoid the need for freeholder approval for new windows.

We make sash windows to match original designs, and supply secondary glazing for listed homes where replacements are not allowed. Parking is limited and heavily controlled, so we arrange permits and access in advance. Islington is about 5.6 miles from our Edmonton factory, close enough for quick aftercare visits.

Double glazing uses two panes of glass with a sealed, insulating gap between them, cutting heat loss, draughts and condensation compared with single glazing. We fit it in new windows and doors or as replacement sealed units, suiting almost every home, from older properties still single glazed to houses with failed units.

• Less condensation on the glass
• Quieter rooms than single glazing
• Toughened and laminated safety glass options
