Flush windows for Hornsey homes

Homes in Hornsey are mostly bay-fronted Victorian and Edwardian terraces, flat conversions and some newer blocks. Flush windows suit Victorian rear elevations and back additions, giving a cleaner joinery look than storm casements while sash windows stay on the front.

Before choosing flush windows in a flat, confirm the freeholder accepts the colour and profile, since mixed styles across a block can breach lease terms. For landlords upgrading period conversions, flush windows can satisfy owners wanting a heritage look while keeping long-term maintenance lower than painted timber.

The East Coast Main Line runs past Hornsey station and the big train depot, so homes nearby can be noisy. Acoustic glazing, which uses two different thicknesses of glass, reduces that. Hornsey is about 3.5 miles from our Edmonton factory, and we always check freeholder consent for flats before fitting.

Flush windows have opening sashes that sit level with the outer frame, recreating the look of traditional timber casements. Made in our own factory, they suit homeowners who want a heritage or contemporary appearance with the low maintenance of a modern frame, especially on period homes and stylish renovations.

Questions from Hornsey

Do I need planning permission for flush windows in Hornsey?

Some streets in Hornsey fall within conservation areas, so we check with Haringey Council before quoting. Converted flats also need freeholder consent and may need planning permission. Flush windows replacing existing windows on a house are generally permitted development where the appearance is similar, and FENSA covers Building Regulations, but flats, listed buildings and Article 4 conservation areas may need consent.

How soon can you fit flush windows in Hornsey?

Lead times vary by product and workload — confirmed with your quote. Being about 3.6 miles from our factory makes surveys, fitting days and aftercare visits easy to arrange.

What is a flush window?

A flush window is a casement where the opening sash closes level with the frame rather than overlapping it. This mirrors how traditional timber casements were built, so the window looks neater and more authentic, particularly on older properties and on homes aiming for a crisp modern finish.

Can I see samples before I decide?

Yes. Our showroom is at Unit G, 1 Anthony Way, London N18 3QT (Mon–Fri 8am–5pm), about 3.6 miles from Hornsey. We can also bring samples to your home in Hornsey at the free survey.
