Sash windows in Holloway

The housing in Holloway is largely Victorian terraces, converted flats and council estates. Victorian and Edwardian terraces often have two-over-two or one-over-one sashes with horns, and matching that pattern exactly keeps the front elevation consistent with neighbouring houses.

In mansion blocks, sash replacement is often controlled by the freeholder or managing agent, so get written approval of the glazing pattern and material before ordering. Landlords of converted period buildings benefit from sash replacements that reduce draughts and maintenance calls, but should confirm any planning conditions affecting the frontage first.

Noise is often the first thing people mention. Bedrooms facing the A1, Camden Road or Seven Sisters Road can be transformed with acoustic double glazing, or with secondary glazing behind the existing sashes. Parking is tight on most streets, so we sort out bay suspensions or permits before fitting day. The drive from our factory is about 4.9 miles.

Sliding sash windows open vertically and give period homes their familiar look, with balanced sashes, horns and glazing bars. We make replacement sash windows to match original proportions, suiting owners of Victorian, Edwardian and Georgian properties who want better insulation and security without losing traditional character.

• Traditional look with modern weather sealing
• Matched to original proportions and glazing bars
• Fewer draughts and rattles than worn originals
