Aluminium sliding doors in Higham Hill

The housing in Higham Hill is largely interwar and Edwardian terraces, council-built houses and low-rise flats. For 1930s semis with rear extensions, sliding doors keep sightlines clean across the garden and avoid bifold panel stacks taking up patio space.

In Victorian side-return extensions, a two or three-panel sliding door gives wide views while staying practical in narrow gardens where swinging doors would get in the way. Sliding doors suit flats opening onto balconies or terraces because they do not swing, but check freeholder consent and drainage at the threshold first.

Homes near Billet Road and the North Circular pick up steady traffic noise, so we can quote acoustic laminated glass alongside standard double glazing. We are only about 0.6 miles away across the reservoirs, so return visits are quick.

Sliding patio doors use large glass panels that glide along a track, opening up a rear wall without taking any space inside or out. Made with slim aluminium frames, they suit kitchen extensions, living rooms and modern homes where owners want maximum glass, views and daylight.

• Large panes with slim aluminium frames
