Double glazing for Fortis Green homes

Around Fortis Green you will mostly find Edwardian semis, terraces and mansion-style flats. Many Victorian terraces still have single-glazed sashes, and moving to double glazing is often the biggest single comfort upgrade, whether through new windows or secondary glazing.

Original 1930s leaded lights can be replicated within double glazed units, so you keep the decorative pattern while gaining modern insulation and quieter rooms. If your flat's frames are in good order, replacing only failed or misted double glazed units may avoid the need for freeholder approval for new windows.

Our answer is usually a sash window or flush casement with glazing bars copied from the originals, paired with a composite door carrying period-style glass. For mansion flats we can prepare the specification your freeholder will want to see. Fortis Green is roughly 4.8 miles from our Edmonton workshop.

Double glazing uses two panes of glass with a sealed, insulating gap between them, cutting heat loss, draughts and condensation compared with single glazing. We fit it in new windows and doors or as replacement sealed units, suiting almost every home, from older properties still single glazed to houses with failed units.

Less condensation on the glass
Quieter rooms than single glazing
Toughened and laminated safety glass options

Questions from Fortis Green

Do I need planning permission for double glazing in Fortis Green?

Haringey Council has a Fortis Green conservation area, where front windows normally need to keep their original design, so we check with the council before quoting. Replacing only the sealed glass units in existing frames does not normally need Building Regulations notification, while full window replacements are covered by our FENSA registration, though listed buildings may need consent.

How soon can you fit double glazing in Fortis Green?

Lead times vary by product and workload — confirmed with your quote. Being about 4.8 miles from our factory makes surveys, fitting days and aftercare visits easy to arrange.

Why is there condensation between my double glazed panes?

Condensation inside the unit means the seal has failed and moist air has got into the gap, so the unit has lost much of its insulating value. The frame itself is often fine, in which case we can measure and replace just the sealed unit rather than the whole window.

Can I see samples before I decide?

Yes. Our showroom is at Unit G, 1 Anthony Way, London N18 3QT (Mon–Fri 8am–5pm), about 4.8 miles from Fortis Green. We can also bring samples to your home in Fortis Green at the free survey.
