Double glazing in N17

Many Victorian terraces still have single-glazed sashes, and moving to double glazing is often the biggest single comfort upgrade, whether through new windows or secondary glazing.

If your flat's frames are in good order, replacing only failed or misted double glazed units may avoid the need for freeholder approval for new windows. Detached homes have more external walls and windows losing heat, so upgrading every window to modern double glazing at once gives consistent comfort throughout.

Double glazing uses two panes of glass with a sealed, insulating gap between them, cutting heat loss, draughts and condensation compared with single glazing.
