Aluminium sliding doors in Stroud Green

Homes in Stroud Green are mostly tall Victorian terraces and large semis, many divided into flats. In Victorian side-return extensions, a two or three-panel sliding door gives wide views while staying practical in narrow gardens where swinging doors would get in the way.

For 1930s semis with rear extensions, sliding doors keep sightlines clean across the garden and avoid bifold panel stacks taking up patio space. Sliding doors suit flats opening onto balconies or terraces because they do not swing, but check freeholder consent and drainage at the threshold first.

Because so many homes here are flats, we usually arrange freeholder consent before work begins, and check with Haringey or Islington Council depending on which side of the boundary you are on. Some streets fall within conservation areas. We are about 4 miles from Stroud Green, and plan parking for fitting day in advance.

Sliding patio doors use large glass panels that glide along a track, opening up a rear wall without taking any space inside or out. Made with slim aluminium frames, they suit kitchen extensions, living rooms and modern homes where owners want maximum glass, views and daylight.

• Slides open without swinging into rooms
• Maximises views and natural light
• Low threshold options for easier access
