Conservatory roofs in South Kensington

Homes in South Kensington are mostly stucco terraces, red-brick mansion blocks and converted period flats. Victorian-style conservatories with multi-faceted ends need precise roof design, so we measure every facet to make sure the new roof sits square on the existing frames.

Ground-floor flats with conservatories should check lease terms and freeholder consent before changing the roof, as alterations to the building's exterior are often restricted. In conservation areas and on listed buildings, replacement conservatory roofs can need consent, especially if the material, height or appearance changes from what is there now.

Where a building is listed, or the freeholder insists on keeping the original sashes, secondary glazing fitted inside the existing frames is usually the sensible answer, and it also helps with noise from Cromwell Road. We talk to managing agents about access, consent and parking bay suspensions before we fix a fitting date.

A new conservatory roof can turn a room that is too hot in summer and too cold in winter into a comfortable space used all year. We replace tired polycarbonate and old glass roofs with modern glazed and lantern-style roofs, suiting homeowners whose conservatory frames and base are still sound.

• Reduces glare and summer overheating
• Glazed and lantern roof options
• Reuses sound existing frames and base
