Aluminium doors in Palmers Green

The housing in Palmers Green is largely Edwardian terraces, 1930s semis and mansion flats around Green Lanes. On Victorian terraces with kitchen extensions, an aluminium single door beside a window or sliding door keeps sightlines consistent across the new rear elevation.

For 1930s semis, a grey or black aluminium back door can modernise the rear elevation while the front keeps more traditional windows and doors. Aluminium doors suit flats with private terraces or balconies, though freeholders may specify colour and style to keep the block looking consistent.

Green Lanes and the North Circular carry heavy traffic past many homes, so we often suggest acoustic laminated glass for rooms facing them. The streets around Broomfield Park are some of the most intact Edwardian roads in Enfield, and keeping the original bay shapes and door surrounds is what makes a replacement look right.

Aluminium doors combine strong, slim frames with modern powder-coated finishes and are used for front entrances, back doors and garden access. They suit contemporary homes and extensions, and anyone wanting a sleek, durable door that holds its shape and colour well with little upkeep.

• Slim, strong frames that stay rigid
• Durable powder-coated finishes in many colours
