Aluminium sliding doors in Paddington

The housing in Paddington is largely stucco terraces, converted period flats, council blocks and modern apartments. In Victorian side-return extensions, a two or three-panel sliding door gives wide views while staying practical in narrow gardens where swinging doors would get in the way.

Sliding doors suit flats opening onto balconies or terraces because they do not swing, but check freeholder consent and drainage at the threshold first. Modern homes and new builds suit wide sliding doors in grey or black, and choosing a low threshold helps link the kitchen floor with the patio.

Noise is a constant factor: the Westway, Praed Street, Edgware Road and the railway approach all carry traffic late into the night, so acoustic glazing is worth considering. Many streets are in Westminster conservation areas, and listed buildings need consent, so we check the rules first. Parking needs planning too. We are about 8.6 miles away.

Sliding patio doors use large glass panels that glide along a track, opening up a rear wall without taking any space inside or out. Made with slim aluminium frames, they suit kitchen extensions, living rooms and modern homes where owners want maximum glass, views and daylight.
