Double glazing in Hadley Wood

Homes in Hadley Wood are mostly large detached Edwardian, Arts and Crafts and mock-Tudor houses. Detached homes have more external walls and windows losing heat, so upgrading every window to modern double glazing at once gives consistent comfort throughout.

Many Victorian terraces still have single-glazed sashes, and moving to double glazing is often the biggest single comfort upgrade, whether through new windows or secondary glazing. In conservation areas, slim double glazed units can sometimes be fitted into traditional-style frames, but check with the council first, as listed buildings usually need consent.

Because many houses are large and individually designed, we measure each opening carefully at survey. We are about 6.8 miles from our Edmonton factory, so our own team can measure, make and fit everything.

Double glazing uses two panes of glass with a sealed, insulating gap between them, cutting heat loss, draughts and condensation compared with single glazing. We fit it in new windows and doors or as replacement sealed units, suiting almost every home, from older properties still single glazed to houses with failed units.

• Warmer rooms and lower heat loss
• Quieter rooms than single glazing
• Toughened and laminated safety glass options
