Aluminium sliding doors for EN4 homes
Larger detached homes can use multi-panel sliding doors across wide rear openings, but structural steelwork and drainage need careful planning before installation.
For 1930s semis with rear extensions, sliding doors keep sightlines clean across the garden and avoid bifold panel stacks taking up patio space. In Victorian side-return extensions, a two or three-panel sliding door gives wide views while staying practical in narrow gardens where swinging doors would get in the way.
Big detached homes need wide-span doors and strong security; older terraces need windows that match the period. The East Coast Main Line runs past New Barnet and Hadley Wood. EN4 is about 5.5 miles from our Edmonton factory.
Sliding patio doors use large glass panels that glide along a track, opening up a rear wall without taking any space inside or out. Made with slim aluminium frames, they suit kitchen extensions, living rooms and modern homes where owners want maximum glass, views and daylight.
- Slides open without swinging into rooms
- Maximises views and natural light
- Low threshold options for easier access

Questions from EN4
Do I need planning permission for aluminium sliding doors in EN4?
Replacing existing patio doors on a house is generally permitted development and covered by FENSA, but new or widened openings need Building Regulations approval, and flats, listed buildings and conservation areas may need planning consent.
How soon can you fit aluminium sliding doors in EN4?
Lead times vary by product and workload — confirmed with your quote. Being about 5.5 miles from our factory makes surveys, fitting days and aftercare visits easy to arrange.
Can sliding doors have a flat threshold?
Many systems offer low or flush threshold options, which reduce trip hazards and create a smoother link between inside and outside. A flush threshold needs careful drainage design, so whether it suits your EN4 home depends on floor levels, the patio and exposure, which we check during the survey.
Can I see samples before I decide?
Yes. Our showroom is at Unit G, 1 Anthony Way, London N18 3QT (Mon–Fri 8am–5pm), about 5.5 miles from EN4. We can also bring samples to your home in EN4 at the free survey.
