Conservatory roofs for Highbury homes

Homes in Highbury are mostly Victorian villas, terraces, mansion blocks and converted flats. Victorian-style conservatories with multi-faceted ends need precise roof design, so we measure every facet to make sure the new roof sits square on the existing frames.

In conservation areas and on listed buildings, replacement conservatory roofs can need consent, especially if the material, height or appearance changes from what is there now. Ground-floor flats with conservatories should check lease terms and freeholder consent before changing the roof, as alterations to the building's exterior are often restricted.

Flats need the freeholder's consent, and parking on Highbury's controlled streets takes some planning, so we arrange a bay suspension or permit where needed. Our Edmonton workshop is about 4.6 miles away.

A new conservatory roof can turn a room that is too hot in summer and too cold in winter into a comfortable space used all year. We replace tired polycarbonate and old glass roofs with modern glazed and lantern-style roofs, suiting homeowners whose conservatory frames and base are still sound.

Questions from Highbury

Do I need planning permission for conservatory roofs in Highbury?

Islington Council has conservation areas around Highbury Fields and Highbury New Park, where front windows normally need to match the original design, so we check with the council before quoting. Replacing a conservatory roof with a similar glazed roof does not usually need consent, but changing to a solid or tiled roof normally needs Building Regulations approval, and flats or listed buildings may need planning permission.

How soon can you fit conservatory roofs in Highbury?

Lead times vary by product and workload — confirmed with your quote. Being about 4.6 miles from our factory makes surveys, fitting days and aftercare visits easy to arrange.

Will a glass roof make my conservatory too hot?

Modern solar control glass reflects much of the sun's heat while letting daylight through, so it is far more comfortable than old polycarbonate or clear glass. Good ventilation, such as opening roof vents or windows, and blinds also help keep temperatures comfortable in summer.

Can I see samples before I decide?

Yes. Our showroom is at Unit G, 1 Anthony Way, London N18 3QT (Mon–Fri 8am–5pm), about 4.6 miles from Highbury. We can also bring samples to your home in Highbury at the free survey.
