Flush windows in Chingford Hatch

Homes in Chingford Hatch are mostly 1930s semis and terraces with bays and some post-war council houses. On 1930s bays, flush casements with slim mullions can reflect the original metal or timber windows more closely than chunky storm-style frames.

Flush windows suit Victorian rear elevations and back additions, giving a cleaner joinery look than storm casements while sash windows stay on the front. On modern homes, flush windows in anthracite grey or black give a sleek, architectural look that pairs well with aluminium doors and rendered walls.

Gardens are often generous, which makes rear bifold or sliding doors and conservatory roof upgrades popular. We are about 2.2 miles from here, a straightforward drive across the Lea Valley, and we usually park on the drive or street without any trouble.

Flush windows have opening sashes that sit level with the outer frame, recreating the look of traditional timber casements. Made in our own factory, they suit homeowners who want a heritage or contemporary appearance with the low maintenance of a modern frame, especially on period homes and stylish renovations.

• Sashes close flush like traditional joinery
