Secondary glazing in Bayswater

The housing in Bayswater is largely stucco terraces, converted townhouses and mansion-block flats. Behind Victorian sash windows, vertical sliding secondary glazing aligned with the meeting rail keeps the view uninterrupted and lets both windows open for ventilation.

For flats where the lease or freeholder prevents changing external windows, secondary glazing fitted inside is usually the simplest way to reduce traffic noise and heat loss. On listed buildings, secondary glazing is often the preferred way to improve comfort, but check with the conservation officer as listed building consent may still be needed.

Bayswater has a conservation area, and Westminster City Council expects close matches to the original design; listed buildings need extra consent. Freeholders and managing agents usually need to approve changes, and fitting days must be planned around parking restrictions. Our factory is about 9.2 miles away, and we arrange each step in advance.

Secondary glazing is a discreet second window fitted on the inside of your existing windows, leaving the originals untouched. It suits listed buildings, conservation areas, flats where external windows cannot be changed, and anyone wanting to cut noise and draughts without replacing period windows.

• Keeps original windows in place
• Reduces draughts and outside noise
• Suitable where replacement is restricted
